Las Vegas, Nevada (PRWEB) April 16, 2013

Yesterday the Las Vegas Autism/Sports-Social Facility was set ablaze by an arsonist. The community is outraged, however, people are coming together and the rebuilding process has begun; donations are being accepted to assist in recovery.

April is Autism Awareness Month, but it hasn't been an easy start for; a company using the arts and sports to help children affected by autism. In the early morning hours of April 15th, an arsonist was arrested for setting fire to company's facility, Sport-Social, located at 7055 Windy Street in Las Vegas, NV. Multiple fires were started throughout the facility causing extensive fire and water damage. Sport Social is also home to two other Autism treatment providers:Families For Effective Autism Treatment (FEAT of Southern Nevada) and Autism Building Blocks. Both organizations along with Sport Social are closed until further notice.

Sport Social
is a Nevada start-up serving the Special Needs Community in Southern Nevada. Currently, more than 225 children participate in weekly programs that use sports and the arts to teach social skills. “The impact of this fire is devastating to the Autism community in Southern Nevada”, commented Andrew Devitt, founder of Sport-Social. See Video of Damage

The timing of the fire is particularly disturbing as April is Autism Awareness Month. A number of special programs celebrating Autism Awareness had to be cancelled. The immediate issue is to start rebuilding the facility and program infrastructure.

"My greatest concern is the impact on summer programming and camp for families in the next couple of weeks," said Andrew Devitt. A special account has been set up at Wells Fargo and to help rebuild and restore the facility. If you would like to help, please visit us here, donations are highly appreciated: DONATE HERE
